With the Phillies leading 2-1, Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a line drive to center field. Rojas made a leaping catch at the wall and then quickly threw to first base to double off Manny Machado. The play helped the Phillies escape a bases-loaded jam and preserved the lead.
After the game, Rojas said he was just trying to make a play. "I just saw the ball hit, and I just reacted," he said. "I'm just glad I was able to make the catch and help the team win."
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Rojas' play was "huge." "That was a big play in the game," Thomson said. "He saved us a run, and it gave us a chance to win the game."
Rojas has been a bright spot for the Phillies since being called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley earlier this month. The 23-year-old is hitting .300 with two home runs and four RBIs in 10 games.
"He's been a great addition to our team," Thomson said. "He's a good hitter, and he's a good defender. We're really happy to have him."
